Bears Tally Wins In Doubles, Court 6

BERKELEY — In its regular-season finale, the California Golden Bears (14-12, 6-7) fell to No. 17 Stanford (16-7, 9-4) 4-2 at the Hellman Tennis Complex on Sunday.

To begin the day, the Bears quickly seized the doubles-point advantage with a 6-3 victory on Court 3 by Bernardo Munk Mesa and Paris Pouatcha. After falling on Court 2, Cal came away with a 1-0 lead when Alex Aney and Timofey Stepanov recorded a 6-4 victory on Court 1.

With a 1-0 lead entering singles play, Stanford evened the match after a win on Court 3. Then, on Court 6, Lenn Luemkemann added Cal's second point of the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

The Cardinal then tallied points on Courts 1, 4 and 5 to clinch the match.
