Twenty-one members of the California track & field team have earned berths to the NCAA West Regionals next week, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday. The Golden Bears will compete next Wednesday-Saturday at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with individuals needing to place in the top 12 in their respective events to book a spot at next month's NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Cal already has one automatic qualifier set to compete in Eugene, as neither the West nor East Regionals host the multi-events. Decathlete Seth Johnson's Mt. SAC Relays total of 7786 points is tied for No. 10 nationally, which guarantees him a ticket to Hayward Field.
 
Over half of the Bears' group headed to Fayetteville is composed of first-time regional qualifiers, including four true freshmen. Of the returners, throwers Valentina Savva, Audrey Jacobs and Lucija Leko have each advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in previous years, while pole vaulter Ali Sahaida finished fifth at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
Cal has three entries apiece in the men's long jump and women's hammer. The Bears will also field two competitors apiece in the men's hammer and women's 100m hurdles.
