Cal Welcomes Julia Frigola Navarro From Spain
She Will Join The Golden Bears As A Freshman For 2026-27
Fresh off a trip to the NCAA title match, the California women's water polo program continues to prepare for the future with the signing of Spain's Julia Frigola Navarro. Head coach
Coralie Simmons and the Golden Bears welcome the international addition, who has been competing for her country and at a high level in the Spanish club system.
"We are excited to welcome Julia Frigola Navarro to our Golden Bear roster," Simmons said. "Julia has quickly made an impact on both the European club and international stages, showcasing a dynamic blend of defensive strength and offensive skill."
A 5-foot-9 utility player from Barcelona, Frigola Navarro won a gold medal with Spain at the 2024 U16 World Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Turkey and was a member of the U15 team at the 2023 LEN European Championships. She's continued her role representing her country as a member of Spain's U18 team. On the club side, Frigola Navarro has competed for CN Catalunya.
"In addition to her performance in the pool, Julia brings an elite level of achievement in the classroom as an engineering student, reflecting the kind of well-rounded excellence we value in our program," Simmons added.
Frigola Navarro joins a Cal program that reached the NCAA final for the second time in three years, knocking off defending champion Stanford in the 2026 NCAA semifinals last month. She is one of six new Bears signed on for the 2026-27, joining Julia Gustafsson, Lucia Indart, Lotte Lightner, Melina Ntouli and Caroline Starrett.
