Biography
2011: A regular in the lineup on the vault and competed on rings as well...was an All-American on vault when he finished second in the NCAA Individual Championships with a score of 16.250...tied for first on vault with a 16.100 in the meet against Oklahoma...at the NCAA Team Qualifiers, tied for second with teammate Steven Lacombe on vault with a career-best 16.350...had a season-high 14.750 on rings in the meet against Oklahoma.
2010: Competed in every meet on vault for the Bears as a true freshman...finished fifth at the NCAA Team Championships with a career-best score of 16.100 on vault...was an All-American on vault with his 15.850 score that tied him for sixth in the NCAA Individual Championships.
Personal: At the 2009 national championships, he took fifth on vault...was a silver medalist on vault at the 2009 regionals and a gold medalist in 2007...on vault, took home gold at the 2009 state competition and silver in 2007...2006-09 first-team Academic All-American...his team took home the stat titles in 2008 and 2009...also participated in CSF, German Club and Key Club at Monte Vista HS...two uncles and his father are Cal alums and his cousin currently attends Cal...twin brother Jean is a fellow Cal gymnastics freshman...parents are Emelyn and Felipe Monteclaro.
