TRACK AND FIELD
2019: Finished fourth at the NCAA West Prelims in the hammer throw; his mark of 67.43m/221-3 earned him a bid to the NCAA Championships… Made the finals as he took ninth place at the NCAA Championships with a throw of 68.50m/224-9… Took second place at the Pac-12 Championship in the hammer throw… Moved to number two on Cal’s Outdoor All-Time Top-10 list in the hammer throw with the 68.82m/225-9 mark… Moved up to number five on Cal’s Indoor All-Time Top-10 list in the weight throw with his personal best mark of 18.90m/62-0.25.

2018: Second-Team All-American...  Claimed 16th at the NCAA Championship with the second-best mark of his career at 65.54m (215-0)... Took fourth in the hammer throw at the NCAA West Prelims by setting a new personal best with a mark of 65.83m (216-0) and qualified for the NCAA Championship... Ranks third in school history in the hammer throw with that mark of 216-0... Won the hammer throw competition four times during the 2018 season at the Cardinal Classic, Big Meet, Hornet Invitational and Cal Outdoor Opener... Finished ninth at the Pac-12 Championship in the hammer throw... Recorded the eight-best weight throw in school history with a mark of 18.54m/60-10 at the UW Invitational... Took eighth place at the MPSF Indoor Championship in the weight throw. 

2017 (UC RIVERSIDE): Took 14th in the weight throw at the MSPF Indoor Championship with a mark of 57-5.75... Took first at the Mt. Sac Relays with a personal best hammer throw of 210-10...Took second at the Highlander Challenge with a discus throw of 161-5...Claimed third place in the hammer throw at the Big West Championship with a toss of 206-0... Notched a 24th place finish at the NCAA West Prelims as he had a throw of 205-10.   

2016  (UC RIVERSIDE): Finished eighth in the Hammer Throw with a top mark of 59.77m (196' 1") at the Big West Championship... Set a PR at the NCAA West Regional in the Hammer  with a mark of 61.48m (201' 8"), which placed him 16th overall—four spots shy of advancing to the NCAA Championship.

HIGH SCHOOL: Won two Pacific Coast League titles, one in the Shot Put and one in the Discus ... Set the school record in the Discus and Hammer Throw ... Volunteered in a soup kitchen.

PERSONAL: Graduated with a degree in sociology... Son of Gheorghe and Helen Bocancea... His most memorable sports achievement is winning two league titles in high school... Cheers for the Carolina Panthers and Golden State Warriors... Considers Steph Curry and Cam Newton to be his favorite athletes.
