As a JUNIOR in 2010, competed in two meets, performing floor routines at the home meet against Oregon State and closing out the season with a floor routine at the Pac-10 Championships...earned the Golden Bear Achievement Award for having the top GPA on the team.
As a SOPHOMORE in 2009: All-Academic Pac-10 first team...earned NACGC National Scholar Athlete honors...posted an all-around score in eight of Cal's 11 meets...earned a 9.675 in her first collegiate bars completion at the season-opening meet against Davis and Sac State...scored a career-high 38.500 in the all-around at UCLA, logging a season-best mark in the vault (9.500) and a season and career-best 9.725 on the beam...scored a 9.850 on her floor routine at the Stanford meet, tying for the highest floor score of the season for any Cal gymnast...her fourth place finish on the floor at the Stanford meet was her best event placement of the season.
As a FRESHMAN in 2008, earned NACGC National Scholar Athlete honors...against Oregon State, scored a 9.775 on floor...posted a season best of 9.775 on beam at the Pac-10 Championships...also at the conference meet, earned a 9.750 on floor...tallied a mark of 9.725 on beam in the Sacramento State quad meet.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Competed on Airborne club team with teammate Avery Gee...her Level 10 team took first at the 2007 Junior Olympic Nationals and finished second in the state championships in 2007 and 2006...placed eighth on beam at the 2007 Junior Olympic Nationals...took 10th in the all-around at the 2006 Junior Olympic Nationals and finished fourth on bars...was second in the all-around at the regional championships...first in the all-around, including first-place finishes on beam, floor and bars at the state championships...graduated with high honors.
PERSONAL: Born June 18, 1989, in Los Gatos, Calif....daughter of Philip and Angelina Cheng...has two sisters...cousin, Justine Lam, graduated from Cal in 2001...also participates in figure skating...enjoys drawing...Political Science major.
