Biography
2023-24: Ivanov was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team as she completed her college career with a No. 38 singles ranking, a No. 45 doubles ranking with Jessica Alsola and records of 18-11 in singles and 21-8 in doubles (including a 7-0 doubles record in Pac-12 matches)…Ivanov also garnered Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on March 26 and competed for New Zealand in the Billie Jean King Cup in April…Ivanov was an important contributor to Cal’s run to the NCAA Championship Super Regional and, after graduating in May, played in the NCAA Singles Championship in her last competition as a Golden Bear.
2022-23: Named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll…posted records of 11-10 in singles and 15-7 in doubles…was 6-5 at court-four singles and 8-5 in doubles during the dual-match season…clinched 7-0 victories over Arizona and Pacific, beating the Wildcats’ Lexi Ryngler, 6-2, 6-3, and the Tigers’ Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, 7-5, 6-0…paired with Haley Giavara to beat lys Ventura and Mila Stanojevic, 6-2, and clinch the doubles point in an eventual 4-0 win over Colorado in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals and to clinch the doubles point (with a 6-3 win over the 80th-ranked Solymar Colling and Kailey Evans in the NCAA first-round match vs. San Diego…reached the singles quarterfinals of the Cal Fall Invitational…also in the fall, Ivanov advanced to the singles round of 16 and, in doubles, to the doubles quarterfinals as part of a 57th-ranked duo with Hannah Viller Moeller in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships…the pair of Ivanov and Jessica Alsola was also ranked 51st in the ITA fall doubles poll.
2021-22: Collected two academic honors in her junior season, as Ivanov was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll…on the court, she was 14-13 in doubles and 19-10 in doubles…posted an 18-8 doubles record with Haley Giavara, and the twosome – who were 9-0 in tournament play – finished the season with a No. 40 ITA ranking…Ivanov and Giavara captured the top-flight doubles titles at the Bears’ two annual tournaments, the Cal Fall Invitational and Cal Winter Invitational and had their share of wins in dual matches, including a doubles-point clinching 6-4 victory over 16th-ranked Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen in Cal’s 4-3 triumph over No. 5 Pepperdine on March 29…in singles in the fall, Ivanov – ranked 119th at the time – upset San Diego’s 30th-ranked Solymar Colling, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational…in the spring, Ivanov clinched two Cal wins, beating Nnena Nadozie, 6-2, 6-2, in a 5-2 victory over San Diego State and defeating Midori Castillo-Meza, 6-3, 6-3, in a 7-0 rout of Arizona.
Spring 2021: Posted an 11-8 singles record (including 9-5 on court three) and a 14-9 doubles record in her sophomore season…competed in the NCAA Doubles championship with partner Haley Giavara, and the duo ended the year ranked 50th in the final Oracle ITA poll…in singles, Ivanov clinched Cal’s 4-3 win at San Diego on March 14, beating Jordyn McBride, 6-4, 6-3, on court three…Ivanov and Giavara, who had a including 13-7 on court-one record, posted notable wins over two opposing pairs ranked No. 1 at the time…on Feb. 20 during the regular season, the Bears upset UCLA’s top-ranked Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart, 6-4, and on Feb. 8 in an NCAA second-round match vs. Kentucky, the Cal duo topped the Wildcats’ top-ranked Avile Parazinskaite and Fiona Arrese, 7-6(6), to clinch the doubles point of an eventual 4-2 Cal win.
Spring 2020: Had a strong debut as a Golden Bear, compiling a 16-7 singles record and an 8-5 doubles record in 2019-20…earned a No. 34 singles record in the most recent (March 3) Oracle ITA poll…captured her last three singles matches of the spring, including a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over UCLA’s 17th-ranked Jada Hart, a 7-5, 6-1 win over San Diego State’s Alicia Melosch, and a 6-3, 6-4 result over USC’s Danielle Willson…had a 3-2 doubles record with Haley Giavara, with the two freshmen topping the Trojans’ 16th-ranked Eryn Cayetano and Angela Kulikov, 6-2, in the Bears’ 6-1 win over No. 37 USC.
Fall 2019: Had a strong start to her first season as a Golden Bear, compiling a 12-4 singles record and a 6-3 doubles mark…earned a No. 20 singles ranking and with Anna Bright garnered a No. 55 doubles ranking in the last Oracle ITA polls of the fall…reached the top-flight singles semifinals of the Cal Fall Invitational…her run included a 6-4, 6-4 quarterfinal victory over teammate and 42nd-ranked Anna Bright…went 3-1 in singles in the inaugural Women’s Collegiate Classic, earning a 7-6, 6-2 upset win over Vanderbilt’s 15th-ranked Christina Rosca along the way…reached the singles semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, with Ivanov beating teammate Haley Giavara (ranked 21st to end the fall) in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-4…went 1-1 in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, with Ivanov upsetting Yale’s 52nd-ranked Samantha Martinelli, 6-3, 6-2, in the opening round of 64…went 3-1 in doubles with Bright in the Women’s Collegiate Classic…partnered with Julia Rosenqvist to reach the doubles round of 16 at regionals.
PERSONAL/PREVIOUS: Graduated from Cal with a degree in economics...minored in data science…has a career-high combined ITF ranking of 85…the New Zealand-born Ivanov, who makes her home in Sydney, Australia, has represented New Zealand in several international tournaments including the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the 2019 Fed Cup…she was the first New Zealand tennis player to compete in the Youth Olympic Games, with Ivanov playing in singles, doubles and mixed doubles in Argentina…in the Fed Cup, she most recently played in New Zealand’s 2-1 third/fourth-round playoff win over Malaysia, pairing with former Alabama star Erin Routliffe to win…reached the second round of singles qualifying in the 2019 ASB Classic, a WTA 250 event in Auckland…Ivanov also played in singles qualifying in the 2018 US Open Junior Championship...she captured the 2018 New Zealand singles national championship, upsetting the top-seeded Paige Hourigan, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5…besides her current stint competing for New Zealand’s national team, Ivanov played for New Zealand’s national team at the 14 and under level in 2014 and 2015…she’s won five age-group national titles in New Zealand and three age-group titles in Australia…parents are Oksana and Sergey Ivanov…younger sister is Elizabeth.
