Biography

2023-24: An All-Pac-12 Second-Team selection, Alsola had another productive season in her third year as a Bear…she posted records of 25-17 (singles) and 29-10 (doubles) and collected final rankings of 60th (singles) as well as, in doubles, 45th (with Valentina Ivanov) and 89th (with Katja Wiersholm)…Alsola also garnered Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors…in the fall, the Fresno product reached the singles quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships and advanced to the consolation singles final at the ITA National Fall Championships…in the spring, she clinched three Cal victories - a pair of 6-1 conference wins over Oregon and Washington State along with a big 4-2 win over eighth-ranked UCLA in the Pac-12 Championship semifinals.
 
2022-23: An All-Pac-12 First-Team selection, Alsola competed in both the NCAA Singles Championship and (with Katja Wiersholm) the NCAA Doubles Championship…Alsola finished the year with a 29-6 singles record and a 16-14 doubles record…she led the Bears in singles wins…also impressive in the classroom, Alsola was named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll and garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status…she had a strong second season and posted a career-best 18-match winning streak in singles that was snapped in the regular-season finale…Alsola had an excellent fall, when she won the consolation singles crown in the ITA All-American Championships and partnered with Wiersholm to capture the doubles title at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships…Alsola and Wiersholm qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships, with Cal’s top duo falling in the opener of the main draw…the two Bears ended the fall as consolation doubles finalists at nationals…during the spring, Alsola clinched a 5-2 win over No. 30 UCLA during the regular season and clinched a 4-0 win over Colorado in the Pac-12 Championship quarterfinals.

2021-22: Capped a strong freshman season by competing in the NCAA Singles Championship…earned All-Pac-12 second-team honors and ITA Scholar-Athlete status…finished the year with records of 32-9 in singles (leading Cal in singles wins) and 23-9 in doubles as well as with final rankings of No. 70 in singles and No. 74 in doubles with Erin Richardson…ended the year ranked sixth in singles and with Richardson ranked fourth in doubles in the ITA Northwest Region…Alsola played most of the dual-match season at court-two singles, at which she had an 11-5 record, and court-two doubles, at which she was 9-2 (including 9-1 paired with Katja Wiersholm)…named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading Cal to a 2-0 dual-match start, Alsola picked up a big win in ninth-ranked Cal's 4-3 win over No. 2 Pepperdine on Jan. 22, defeating the 30th-ranked Victoria Flores at court-three singles, 6-3, 7-6(5), in Malibu…she earned the first dual-match clinching win of her young career when she beat Emily Dush, 6-4, 6-2, in Cal’s 4-0 win over Utah in the Pac-12 quarterfinals…on Jan. 21, Alsola beat Camille Kiss, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, in Cal's 6-1 rout of UC Santa Barbara…in the fall, Alsola reached the singles and, with Richardson, the doubles semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships…Alsola and Richardson collected an at-large invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships, with the pair reaching the doubles second round.

Personal/Previous: Psychology major…born in the Philippines, Alsola moved with her family to Ontario, Canada, as a child before they finally settled in Fresno, California. She garnered top rankings as a junior in Canada – she was ranked seventh in doubles and eighth in singles at the under-14 level and fourth in singles as a U-12 player…in singles in 2021, she won singles titles at a Las Vegas Women's $25K tournament in May, an Atlanta $25K tournament in March and a Newport Beach $25K event in January…in Newport Beach, Alsola defeated Katie Volynets, who's been ranked as high as 183rd in the WTA poll, on her way to the title…in the Atlanta tournament, Alsola knocked off Sophie Chang, who's been ranked as high as 136th by the WTA, and Savannah Broadus, who has a career-best ITF junior combined ranking of 26th, en route to the crown…in early September, Alsola reached the singles final of the Olympic Club Wildcard Challenge in San Francisco.
