2023-24: The Washington state product had an excellent season on the court and off…she was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and collected College Sports Communicators Academic All-America and Academic All-District honors…Wiersholm completed the season with final rankings of No. 65 in singles and No. 89 in doubles (with Jessica Alsola)…she was 25-8 (including a 13-5 mark in dual matches) in singles and had a 21-14 doubles record (including an 8-3 record with Alsola)…Wiersholm clinched four Cal wins this season, including a 5-2 result at Washington, the 4-0 season-opening win over Illinois, a 6-1 thrashing of Utah and a 4-3 win over UCLA…in the fall, she won the top-flight singles title at the Cal Fall Invitational and advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
2022-23: An All-Pac-12 Second-Team selection, Wiersholm posted records of 18-9 in singles and 16-14 in doubles (partnering with Jessica Alsola all season)…she paired with Alsola in the NCAA Doubles Championship, with the duo falling in the first round…in the fall, Wiersholm and Alsola won the doubles crown at the ITA Northwest Regional Championship to qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships, where the two Bears reached the consolation doubles final…in the spring, Wiersholm clinched 6-1 Cal wins over Oregon, Washington State and Washington…likewise a star in the classroom, Wiersholm garnered Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll and ITA Scholar-Athlete status and collected the Golden Bear Achievement Award for posting the top GPA on the Cal team…she was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
2022: Joining Cal for just half the 2021-22 season – the spring semester of 2022 – Wiersholm was still named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and an ITA Scholar-Athlete…she was 21-3 in singles and 17-5…Wiersholm opened her first collegiate season by winning her first 17 consecutive singles matches…she paired with Jessica Alsola to go 11-3 in doubles, including a 9-1 mark on court two…Wiersholm posted four dual-match clinching victories to rank second at Cal (behind Julia Rosenqvist’s 5)…in her first dual match she beat Kira Reuter, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2, in Cal’s 6-1 win at UC Santa Barbara, and in her second dual match Wiersholm defeated Nikki Redelijk, 7-5, 7-5, as Cal edged No. 5 Pepperdine, 4-3, on Jan. 22 in Malibu…Wiersholm garnered her first career Pac-12 Player of the Week award for leading Cal to a 2-0 record to start the dual-match season…in Cal’s Pac-12 opener in March, Wiersholm bested Ares Teixido Garcia, 6-1, 6-4, in Cal’s 5-2 win over Oregon, and in Cal’s next match, Wiersholm beat Lindsay Hung, 6-0, 6-1, as the Bears routed Utah, 7-0.
Personal/Previous: Undeclared major…ranked as the nation’s fifth-best recruit and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Washington by TennisRecruiting.net…the lefty has a career-best junior ranking of 90, a Universal Tennis Rating of 10.86 and a WTA ranking of 1253…in the 2021 US Open Junior Championships, Wiersholm beat Linda Klimovicova, 7-5, 6-1, in the first round and – in what she calls her best sports moment – captured her second-round match against 11th-seeded Mara Guth, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, before falling in the round of 16….also in 2021, Wiersholm won an ITF grade 3 level tournament…in 2019 she won the girls' 16 doubles title at the 2019 USTA Billie Jean King National Championships in San Diego…Wiersholm reached the doubles final of the 2020 Orange Bowl…she advanced to the semifinals of the Les Petit As in 2018…in 2016, Wiersholm captured the singles title at the USTA Girls' 12s National Championships in Georgia a few weeks after winning the singles crown at the National Clay Court Championships in Florida…tennis talent runs in her family, as her older brother, Henrik, 24, played tennis for Virginia, winning three straight NCAA team championships with the Cavaliers from 2015-17…parents are Karl and Maybelle Wiersholm.
