Has the capability to be Cal's leading scorer on any given day...coaches expect him to be an NCAA finalist on parallel bars...adds depth for the Golden Bears on pommel horse.
2007: Helped the Bears win rings over No. 3 Ohio State when he tied his then-career best of 8.9...set all new career highs in his junior campaign -- 8.050 on pommel horse (Feb. 17); 9.050 on parallel bars (March 10); 9.200 on still rings (April 12)...selected as an Academic All-MPSF scholar-athlete...improved most notably on parallel bars and still rings.
2006: Scored a 9.000 on parallel bars at the NCAA Championships, his best performance of the season...earned an 8.900 on still rings at the NCAA Qualifier and was a consistent high scorer on rings for the entire season.
2005: Competed in the all-around at Temple.
2004: Redshirted.
Personal: Transferred to Cal from Temple, where he competed on the gymnastics team for two years...member of Surgent's Elite gymnastics club in New Jersey...participated in varsity track and field for three years during high school...won second place in pole vault in the parochial states...majoring in physical sciences... has one brother, Kevin, who is a professional musician...parents are Diane and Kevin...born March 19, 1985, in Fort Benning, Ga.
