SAC will travel to UC Davis' Woody Wilson Invitational, April 17. The WW Invite begins at 1 p.m., with the women's javelin and concludes with the men's 4X400 relay, at 9 p.m.

ABOUT MOUNT SAC RELAYS
The Bears have athletes competing in the College/Open, University/Invitational and Invitational divisions. The collegiate division attracts primarily Division II and III athletes along with some lower level Division I athletes; the university division features Division I athletes along with some open athletes; and the invitational division spotlights the highest level athletes. Most of the Bears will compete Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening.

MOUNT SAC FIELD/WOODY WILSON FIELD
College teams include local powers UCLA and USC, along with Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, and Stanford just to name a few. The WW field includes Cal, UC Davis, Nevada, Humboldt State, Army, and Fresno State.

HEASTON SETS CAL RECORD, NCAA PROV. MARK IN SHOT PUT
Senior Kristin Heaston threw a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 52-6.5 in the shot put at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, shattering the previous record of 49-11 set by Missy Maolata in 1994. Heaston, who has been battling mononucleosis, owns a PR in the shot of 55-1.5 (set at Florida). Heaston also won the discus competition Saturday in a season's best 156-6.

ELISSA RIEDY POSTS THIRD BEST PAC-10 1500M
Senior Elissa Riedy took the week off to rest for the Mt. SAC Relays. Riedy will likely be one of a handful of Cal athletes to compete in the elite Invitational Division in her specialty the 1500m. Riedy's time of 4:21.21 clocked at the Stanford Invitational, March 28, is the third-fastest time in the Pac-10 and an NCAA provisional mark. Riedy won her first All-America honor with a sixth-place finish in the 1500m at the 1998 NCAA meet.

ALL IN THE FAMILY
The California track program sports several sibling duos. At the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, Bolota and Yonathan (older) Asmerom finished first (3:50.01) and second (3:52.34), respectively, in the 1500m. Redshirt sophomore Jacquie Cooke won the 3000m Saturday in 10:34.27. Her younger brother, Brian, ran Cal's fastest time in the 3000m SC (9:15.53) at the Cal Quadrangular. Additionally, senior twins Elissa and Lori Riedy wrap up their careers this season.

BEAR BITS
Junior Bevan Hart owns the Pac-10's top decathlon mark of 7,404 points (set at the UC Davis Multi-Event meet). Several additional PRs were set at the Brutus Hamilton meet, including Mandy Mazik in the 400m hurdles (62.22); Chris Maier in the 800m (1:53.62); and Ally Lombardi in a PR and Cal season's best 400m (57.25).
