Cal Men Run Past California All-Stars, 94-58

OAKLAND - California easily ran past the visiting California All-Stars Thursday night, winning 94-58 at the New Arena in Oakland in the Bears final exhibition tune-up before the regular season gets underway. Senior guard Geno Carlisle led the Bears in scoring with 15 points while shooting 5-for-10 from the floor.

Five Bears finished the evening in double-digits, with junior forward Carl Boyd adding 14, and senior forward Mike Gill and freshman guard Dennis Gates chipping in 13 each. Robbie Jones rounding things out with 12 points. Gill also contributed 12 rebounds.

Chivo Anderson knocked down a team-leading 21 points for the All-Stars.

Cal held the All-Stars without a field goal for the first 13 minutes of the contest, building a 35-13 lead. The Bears were up, 55-24, at the break and led by more than 35 points for much of the second half.

Cal, which also won its first exhibition game with an 86-34 victory over the Costa Rican National Team Monday, opens the regular season Sunday at Hawaii. The Bears host their home opener Nov. 25 against Eastern Washington.
