COTO DE CAZA, Calif. -- The California men's golf team shot a combined 17-over-par 881 and finished in third place, 17 strokes behind tournament champion UCLA, which fired an even-par total of 864, and just one stroke behind second place finisher Washington (16-over 880), at the Spalding Anteater Invitational in Coto de Caza, Calif., Tuesday.
Junior Dan Coyle (3-over 219, T 8th) and freshman Adam Ainbinder (3-over 219, T 8th) led the way for the Bears, who with Junior Dan Arroyo's 14th place finish (4-over 220), had three golfers among the tournament's Top 15.
Also in action for Cal were junior Jay Berkowitz (tied for 51st) and sophomore Han Lee (tied for 54th).
The Golden Bears will return to action Monday, Mar. 30-31, when they travel to Irvine for the UC Irvine Invitational.
