Trina Tinti Named Region I Coach of the Year

Berkeley - Women's Gymnastics Head Coach Trina Tinti was named Coach of the Year for Region I after leading the Bears to their best conference finish in years. Cal finished fifth in the Pac-10 Championships and sent three gymnasts to the Regional Championships this season.

The women's team sent records falling all through the season individually and as a team. They twice broke the all-time team scoring record, their highest of the season was a 195.975 at Boise State. The team also broke all-time records on bars (49.400) and floor (49.300). The Bears finished the season with an 11-12 record and were 2-10 in the Pac-10.

Other Region I winners were Martha Grace of Cal State Fullerton who was named Assistant Coach of the Year, Heidi Moneymaker of UCLA, who was named Gymnast of the Year and Marianne Vydra of Oregon State, who was named Administrator of the Year.
