Henley Royal Regatta: The Cal men's "Henley eight" will race in the Ladies' Challenge Plate event at the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-On-Thames, England, June 28-July 2. Cal's lineup consists of six oarsmen and a coxswain from the undefeated Pac-10 and 2000 IRA national champion varsity eight as well two members of Cal's Pac-10 and IRA national champion freshman eight.
Competition Schedule: The Henley racing schedule is generated following the completion of racing each day. Due to the limited entries in the Ladies Plate event, the Bears will not begin competition until Friday, June 30.

Cal's Henley History: One of the three greatest moments in the history of Cal rowing took place on Henley-On-Thames racecouse as the Cal varsity eight, representing the United States in the 1948 London Olympic Games, won the Bears third Olympic gold medal under legendary coach Ky Ebright. Since 1948, six Cal eights have raced in the Henley Royal Regatta. Last year at the HRR, Cal's Henley eight, which consisted of seven JV and one varsity IRA National champion oarsmen, lost in the final to the Cambridge Univ. & Queen's Tower B.C. combination eight. The Cambridge eight closely resembled the Cambridge Blues eight that defeated Oxford in the 1999 "Boat Race".
