The University of California Men's Gymnastics squad finished third in the NCAA Team Finals, held today at the Lloyd Noble Center on the University of Oklahoma campus. The Bears checked in with their highest socre of the season, 217.650, but it wasn't good enough as they were bested by the home team Oklahoma, which scored 219.300.That concludes the team's season, however individual finals are to follow Saturday night.
The team scored meet-highs on the pommel horse and the parallel bars, with a 37.400 and 36.475, respectively. Cal also finished second on the vault with a 36.775 mark.
Individually, two Cal gymnasts placed in the top five in the all-around scores, with freshman Jinjing Zhang posting a 55.200 mark, and US National Team member Cody Moore checking in at 54.375. The pair dominated on the pommel horse, finishing 1-2. Zhang had a 9.675 score, while Moore finished right behind at 9.600. Cal's David Eaton also finished seventh in the event, scoring 9.325.
In other events, Moore's best performances came on the vault and parallel bars, where he notched 9.325 and 9.350, respectively. Zhang dominated the field in rings (9.450), parallel bars (9.425) and the horizontal bar (9.250).
