BERKELEY -
Sophomore forward Amit Tamir and redshirt-freshman forward Erik Bond have earned spots on the Pac-10 All-Academic men's basketball team.
Tamir, who has a 3.18 GPA, claimed one of five positions on the first unit. He was the only player to be voted to both the All-Pac-10 and first team All-Academic teams this season. Bond, with a 3.29 GPA, was an honorable mention academic choice.
Cal is also the only school in the conference to have at least one first team All-Academic choice each of the last three years. Ryan Forehan-Kelly, Dennis Gates and Morgan Lingle were on the squad in 2001, while Gates repeated his first-team selection in 2002.
To be eligible for the Pac-10 team, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
