June 15, 2003

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Cal freshman Teak Wilburn tied for 12th in the high jump at the NCAA Championships Saturday at the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex.

Wilburn, who owns a season best of 7-3.75, cleared 7-1.75 today to equal Thursday's qualifying mark. He narrowly missed being in one of the top eight scoring spots, as the Nos. 7 and 8 competitors also had best heights of 7-1.75, but they finished ahead of Wilburn by needing only one chance to Wilburn's three at that height.

USC's David Jaworski won the competition with a mark of 7-5.75, defeating Nebraska's Shaun Kologinczak who needed one more attempt than Jaworski to scale the same height.

The NCAA Championships concluded Saturday evening on the campus of Sacramento State.
