Peter Tomasulo Semifinalist for Hogan Award

BERKELEY - Cal senior Peter Tomasulo, the fifth-ranked amateur player in the United States, has been selected one of 10 semifinalists for the 2004 Ben Hogan Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate golfer.

Tomasulo, from Long Beach, Calif., leads the Bears with a 69.7 scoring average. Last week at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., he shot a school-record 61 in the opening round - one off the collegiate mark of 60.

A two-time All-Pac-10 player, Tomasulo was a third team All-American last spring and represented the United States in the 2003 Palmer Cup in South Carolina over the summer.

The Hogan Award selection committee will name five finalists April 27. The winner of the Hogan Award will be announced May 6, and the presentation banquet will be at Colonial Country Club May 17, the Monday prior to the Bank of America Colonial.
