Golden Bear field hockey player Nora Feddersen, who recently received the Neufeld Scholar-Athlete Award for having the highest GPA among Cal's graduating senior student-athletes, has been selected to the first team Academic All-District VIII team.
Feddersen's name will now be placed on the national ballot for consideration for Academic All-America honors.
A mass communications major with a 3.74 GPA, Feddersen was a second team All-American this past fall when she guided the Bears to the NorPac Conference title and was honored as the NorPac West Player of the Year. A four-time all-conference choice, she finished her playing career as Cal's all-time leader in both goals (45) and total points (103).
Also a member of the 2003 NFHCA National Academic squad, Feddersen received a Pac-10 Postgraduate Scholarship this past spring.
District VIII is comprised of the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and the province of British Columbia, and the team is voted on by the district's Sports Information Directors.
