Erin Cafaro, a member of Cal's 2005 national champion varsity eight boat, has earned a spot on the U.S. World Under-23 Championships team and will compete in the women's four July 22-24 in Amsterdam.
Joining Cafaro in the four are Stesha Carle of Michigan, Megan Kalmoe of Washington and Catherine Starr from Brown. US Rowing announced the U.S. squad Monday.
Cafaro, who held the bow position for the Bears as a senior this season, helped Cal capture its first NCAA tile May 29 when the Bears edged Princeton, 6:20.74 to 6:22.80 in the varsity eight race.
In addition to the women's four, the U.S. will send a men's four, lightweight men's four, women's double sculls and men's quadruple sculls to compete at the Under-23 regatta.
