Cal is attempting to qualify for an automatic or at-large berth into the eight-team NCAA Championship, May 11-13 in Los Alamitos, Calif. The Bears are in the second year under Richard Corso, the 1996 United States men's Olympic coach. In 2006, Cal was 18-9 and a school-record 9-3 in MPSF competition, placing fifth in the MPSF Tournament. Cal is looking to advance to the national tournament for the first time since they placed fourth in the nation in 2000. WINDES AND ANDERSON GARNER MPSF HONORS: Windes and freshman Darby Anderson were recipients of 2007 MPSF all-leagues honors, announced Tuesday by the league coaches. Windes, who has scored 21 goals in 15 matches this season, including two last Friday versus Stanford, was named second-team All-MPSF. She enters the MPSF Tournament with 145 career goals. Windes missed five matches this year when she was at the 2007 FINA World Championships, Mar. 19-31, in Melbourne, Australia. She joined former Cal stars and two-time Olympians, Heather Petri and Ericka Lorenz, on the United States squad. Anderson, who also notched a goal against the Cardinal on Friday, has 16 goals in 20 matches, and was named to the MPSF All-Freshman Team.
