BERKELEY - The NCAA named four California athletes as at-large entrants to the NCAA Outdoor Championships scheduled for June 6-9 in Sacramento - senior Kelechi Anyanwu (women's discus), senior Giliat Ghebray (men's 5,000-meter run), junior Steven Conrad (decathlon) and junior David Torrence (men's 1,500-meter run) - and a fifth, sophomore Evelyn Smith, will travel as an alternate for the women's 4x400-meter relay. Cal now has 16 athletes competing in Sacramento, including the 11 who automatically qualified for NCAAs via the recently completed NCAA West Regional.

Also, Golden Bears sophomore Mackenzie Pierce, who had already qualified for the NCAA Championships in the women's 4x400-meter relay, will take part in the 800-meter run and sophomore Emilee Strot, already a qualifier in the women's shot put, is now a contender in the discus.

The 11 Bears who qualified for NCAAs at the regional were Pierce, Strot, Alysia Johnson (800 and 4x400-meter relay), Ed Wright (high jump), sophomore Inika McPherson (women's high jump), junior Thomas Mack (men's 110-meter hurdles), junior Cassandra Strickland (women's triple jump), senior Kevin Davis (men's 3,000-meter steeplechase), junior Brook Turner (women's 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay), senior Carrie Johnson (women's hammer) and sophomore Kandi Bonty (women's 4x400-meter relay).
