BERKELEY -
Former California goalkeeper Justin Myers signed a developmental contract with Chivas USA of Major League Soccer, the professional club announced this week.
Myers' signing means that Cal currently has 12 former players in the pro ranks, with seven in MLS.
The 6-2, 195-pound keeper recorded a 0.87 goals-against average in 15 starts for the Golden Bears in 2006. Myers, a product of San Diego and Torrey Pines High School, also collected six shutouts and a record of 11-4-0 last fall.
"We are extremely proud of Justin," Cal head coach Kevin Grimes said. "Signing with Chivas USA has capped off an incredible year for him. He will be a great asset for Chivas USA for years to come."
