The winning coaches from today's MPSF Championship tournament games commented on their victories:
UC Davis head coach Elaine Jones, after her fifth-seeded Aggies defeated Saint Mary's, 13-11, in the May 1 MPSF fifth-place game
"I'm proud of our team, especially our seniors. I thought they ended their season on a good note, and it's been a pleasure coaching them. It was a good game; it's always a battle when we play Saint Mary's. I'm pleased we came out on the winning end. I thought our team did well."
Denver head coach Liza Kelly, after her top-seeded Pioneers defeated Oregon, 18-12, in the first May 1 MPSF semifinal game
"Both teams played very hard and really took it to each other. It could have been anyone's game. Oregon's always a really tough opponent. They come to play and they did today."
"I'm anxious to see who we will play. I think Cal and Stanford are both very capable teams. I think it should be another great game."
Stanford volunteer assistant coach Rachel Dyke, after the third-seeded defeated California, 11-8, in the other May 1 MPSF semifinal game
"Our team came out really wanting it. It was back and forth in the first half. In the end, our consistency and our heart came through. Our diversity of playing style was really able to deliver. Cal is an excellent team; they have a lot of really great athletes. We appreciate the competition, and we're really happy we pulled it out."
"Denver's a really good team. They're a team we can beat; we know we can beat them. We went up 4-0 on them the first time we played them, but then we kind of beat ourselves. I think this team knows we can beat Denver. We know we can beat a good team."
