BERKELEY - The No. 23-ranked California men's tennis doubles team of junior Nick Andrews and sophomore Christoffer Konigsfeldt set their sights on the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship doubles crown this weekend (May 25-30), at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.
The Golden Bear duo compiled an 18-9 record together, this year, and went 7-1 in fall tournaments to capture the 2010 USTA/ITA Northwest Regional title in October. Andrews and Konigsfeldt can become the first Cal tandem to win the NCAA title since Matt Lucena and Bent-Ove Pedersen secured the crown in 1991.
The Bears will not compete in the singles championships. No. 20-ranked senior Pedro Zerbini was selected to play among the field of 64, but has withdrawn from the competition.
