BERKELEY -
California Golden Bear women's basketball head coach Lindsay Gottlieb announced the addition of Kai Felton and Daron Park to the women's basketball coaching staff and that Araceli Gil will serve as her Director of Basketball Operations. Felton, who has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the Oregon Ducks, and Park, who has spent the past four seasons with Louisiana Tech and Maryland, join Charmin Smith on the coaching roster for the 2011-12 season.
"I truly believe that Cal is one of the premier places for Women's Basketball in this country, and I wanted to put together a staff that reflects my vision of excellence," said Gottlieb. "With this group, we have an `all-star team' of talented, experienced, passionate and exceptionally bright coaches who will help elevate our players and Cal basketball to another level."
Charmin Smith, who has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach for the Golden Bears, will remain on staff with new head coach Lindsay Gottlieb. Gottlieb and Smith were together on the Bears coaching staff during the 2007-08 season.

During her time at Oregon, the Ducks were transformed into one of the most potent offenses in the nation, averaging 81.4 points per game in 2009-10. The Ducks earned a spot in the post season for just the second time in the last nine years in 2009-10, advancing to the third round of the WNIT.
Daron Park has spent seven seasons as an NCAA Division I coach with six NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Elite Eight, and a WNIT bid. Over the course of those seven seasons, Parks' teams have amassed a 70.0 winning percentage (183-55).
Rounding out the staff will be Director of Operations Araceli Gil. Gil has spent the last three seasons working as Gottlieb's Director of Basketball Operations at UC Santa Barbara. She also played three seasons as a point guard for the University of Richmond while Gottlieb was an assistant coach for the Spiders.
"While Kai, Daron, Charmin and Araceli have abilities and reputations that are at the top of our profession, what I'm most excited about is that collectively, our staff will form a leadership unit that is capable of, and committed to, doing special things in Berkeley," Gottlieb said. "With this staff, I will be able to realize my vision of bringing elite level student-athletes to Cal, developing those players to make them better while they are in our program, and forming relationships with the young women who come through our program so they are ready to achieve whatever life goals they desire. And I know we're going to have a lot of fun doing it."
"I'm proud to announce this coaching staff, and to welcome them all to the Cal Family."
Cal fans will have the opportunity to meet the staff, including Coach Gottlieb, at a Meet & Greet in the Haas Pavilion Club room on Monday, June 13 from 6-8 p.m. More details on this event will be released soon.
