Ishino Finishes Ninth at Olympic Trials

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Former Golden Bear Glen Ishino tied for ninth place on the final day of U.S. Olympic Trials at HP Pavilion. Ishino and Brandon Wynn both tallied four-meet scores of 348.800 to tie for ninth. Ishino more than proved the high caliber of his gymnastics, finishing fourth on pommel horse against the best gymnasts in the nation.

The all-around scores were tabulated by combining two days of competition at the 2012 VISA Championships and both days of the Olympic Trials. The top two in the all-around - John Orozco and Danell Leyva - earned spots on the Olympic squad while the Men's Selection Committee named Jake Dalton, Jonathan Horton and Sam Mikulak to the team Sunday.

Ishino's highest finish was on pommel horse, on which he scored a 14.900 on the final day of competition to bring his four-meet score to 58.750.

Ishino took eighth place on parallel bars by tallying a 14.500 to up his four-meet score to 58.600. It was a ninth-place finish on high bar, on which Ishino tied his highest score of the four meets of 14.650 to finish with a 57.650.

The Santa Ana, Calif., native rounded out the top 10 on vault, scoring a 15.300 to finish with a 61.500.

Earning a 14.65 on floor, Ishino pushed himself into 12th with a collective 58.800. He took 14th on rings, notching a 53.500.
