THE MATCH-UP: The 17th-ranked California women's tennis team, 11-3 overall, 1-2 in the Pac-10 southern division, hosts No. 30 USC, Friday, April 4, at 1:30 p.m. The Bears return to the court on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. when they play host to No. 3 UCLA. Both matches will be played at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley.

THE LINEUPS: Seven Cal players are expected to see action this week. The tentative singles lineup includes; Amanda Augustus, Francesca La'O, Claire Curran, Stephanie Tibbits, Esther Knox and Lisa Swierniak. Expect to see teams of Augustus/Curran, La'O/Knox and Swierniak/Jenny Lee in doubles play.

MATCH UPDATE: The Cal women's tennis team has won its last six matches and boasts a record of 11-3 on the year. Most recently on a swing through Southern California, the Bears defeated San Diego State, 6-3, on March 21, University of San Diego, 6-1, on March 22 and No. 8 Pepperdine, 5-4, on March 24. Against the Waves, No. 2 Francesca La'O defeated Zsofia Csapo, 1-6, 7-6, 6-3 and Stephanie Tibbits topped Anna Svendenhov, 6-3, 6-0 in singles play. Entering doubles action, Cal trailed 2-4 and needed sweep to secure the win. Cal got just that when teams of Agustus/Curran, La'O/Knox and Swierniak/Lee all came away with wins securing the 5-4 Cal victory.

THE COMPETITION: USC is currently ranked No. 30 by the ITA. The Trojans are 7-10 on the year in dual match competition and are led by Ditta Huber at No. 1 singles. UCLA enters Saturday's match with a 11-3 record and a No. 3 ranking by the ITA. The Bruins are led by Kati Kocsis, who has compiled a 5-6 record at No. 1 singles. The Bruins arrive in Berkeley after playing Stanford on Friday

CAL IN THE RANKINGS: The Bears are currently the No. 17-ranked team on the ITA's Spring No. 2 Charts, released March 18. Individually, Cal players rank as follows:

THE COACHES: One of the Top 10 winningest coaches in women's collegiate tennis, Jan Brogan is in her 19th year as the Bears head coach with a career record of 342-139(.711). She is joined by first-year assistant Ann Henricksson, who spent more than 15 years on the women's professional tour.
