Stanford Shuts Out California
BERKELEY, Calif. - The Stanford Cardinal defeated the California Golden Bears, 2-0, in the Bears NorPac Conference opener on Saturday. The Bears fall to an overall record of 3-5, (0-1 in NorPac Conference), while Stanford boost their record to 6-4 overall, (2-0 in NorPac Conference).
The Cardinal was led by sophomore Mallory Chambers, assisted by junior Justina Williams, who scored with 29 minutes remaining in the first period and freshman Michelle Scott who scored with 19:02 remaining in the game. Leaders for the Bears include senior goalkeeper Karen Hagen who helped the Bears with a total of 14 saves for the game, tallying 82 for the season. Stanford dominated the game, outshooting the Bears, 18-4.
The Bears will next face the UC Davis Aggies at Kleeberger Field in Berkeley, Sun., Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
