Cal Defeats Vermont Catamounts, 4-1
Freshman forward Megan Sainsbury scored two goals to lead the Cal field hockey
team to a 4-1 victory over Vermont Sunday on Kleeberger Field.
With the win, the Bears improve to 5-5, while the Catamounts fall to 4-10.
Sophomore Elke Popp put Cal on the scoreboard first with a goal 15 minutes
into the contest. Midway through the half, Sainsbury scored her first goal to give
Cal a 2-0 lead at the break.
After a score by Cal's Katy Garofalo, Sainsbury upped the Bear lead to 4-0 with
13 minutes remaining. Keisha Kohler scored Vermont's lone goal with 18:50 left in
the game.
