HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Lemoore High School was a dual-sport athlete and was recruited to Cal as both a football and baseball player...in baseball, was 12-2 with a 1.19 ERA as a junior and earned All-West Yosemite League honors...in the summer of 1996 was a member of the Central Valley All Stars and was named Most Valuable Pitcher of the Capital Classic in Carson City, NV, leading his team to the Capital Classic title...was also the MVP of the North-South All-Star series and was a member of an all state team that competed in the Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma...in football, threw for 1,473 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior...played for the Fairbanks Goldpanners in the Alaskan League in the summer of 1998...was recruited by USC, UCLA, Fresno State, Long Beach State and Pepperdine before selecting Cal...majoring in American studies...parents are Don and Marilyn Steele...born November 3, 1977 in Hanford, CA.
