AS A JUNIOR (1999): Struggled during the early part of the season at the plate and finished the year batting .224 with six doubles, a triple, two home runs and 16 RBI...batted .277 against Pac-10 foes...had an outstanding season-ending series May 8-10 at Washington State, going 6-for-9 with a double, triple, home run and seven RBI...was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and a career-high four RBI May 9 versus the Cougars, followed by going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the season final May 10 against WSU...other top games included going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI Apr. 3 versus UCLA and 2-for-3 Apr. 12 at USC...had a season-high five-game hitting streak from Apr. 10-17 (7-for-20, 3-2B, RBI)....

AT SAINT MARY'S (1997-98): As a sophomore batted .309 with eight doubles, two triples, two home runs and 16 RBI...was named the team's Freshman of the Year in 1997, hitting .277 with a team-leading 14 doubles, two triples, a home run and 24 RBI...

HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: As a senior shortstop for St. Ignatius Prep in San Francisco, earned all-state, All-NorCal and first team All-WCAL honors...earned second team All-WCAL as a sophomore and junior, helping his team to the state title as a junior...batted .353 in the summer of 1996 and .375 in 1997, playing for the Cincinnati Reds Area Code Team...also competed in the Sunbelt Classic and was a member of the Northern California All-Stars...played two years on the varsity basketball team...majoring in social welfare...parents are Tom and Lynne Callen...born January 11, 1978 in San Mateo, CA.
