Megan Hernandez offers a wealth of experience as she is in her third season as the assistant coach of the Cal women's water polo team. Hernandez has over nine years of water polo coaching experience at the high school, collegiate and national level, including three years with the Cal Club Team from 1991-94. She also had 15 years of playing experience with the Cal Club Team and seven years as a member of the USA National Team.
Before joining the current Cal women's water polo team, Hernandez was the head coach of the Mills Master Water Polo Club in 1998. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of United States Water Polo, Inc. and Chair of the Women's International/National Committee.
While at player for Cal's Club Team from 1980-93, Hernandez was a 10-time All-American and helped lead her team to the 1991 Indoor and Outdoor National Championship. As a member of the USA National Team, Hernandez helped Team USA to a gold medal at the 1988 Quebec (Canada) Invitational, a bronze medal at the 1989 Hungarian Invitational (Eger, Hungary), a silver medal at the 1990 Italian Invitational (Palermo, Sicily) and a bronze medal at the 1991 Sixth World Aquatic Championship in Perth, Australia.
Hernandez earned a bachelor's of arts degree in history from Cal in 1984.
