Diggs joined the team as a walk-on last year after starring at Long Beach Poly HS … quickly established himself as a key player in the rotation and as the primary back-up at point guard … provides lots of energy and defensive pressure on the court … doesn't look to score much, but can drive to the basket well … turned down scholarship opportunities at smaller schools to walk-on at Cal.
As a Freshman in 2000-01: Did not play in the first two games of the year, then saw his first action at Saint Louis Nov. 29 … played well in his next outing at UC Irvine when he scored three points and grabbed five rebounds in 13 minutes ... had a strong game vs. Albany Dec. 11 with two points, two steals, three assists and six rebounds … played a season-high 15 minutes against Yale in the first round of the Golden Bear Classic … helped spark Cal's win at Washington Jan. 27 with four points in 11 minutes … tallied a best of five points to go with three steals vs. USC Feb. 3 … figured heavily in road wins over Oregon State and Oregon the next week, grabbing three steals at OSU and scored two points with an assist and a steal and no turnovers in 12 minutes against the Ducks … played at least nine minutes in six of Cal's last nine regular-season games, including 14 minutes at Oregon State and vs. Stanford.
High School: Diggs was a three-time all-league performer at Long Beach Poly HS … averaged 11 ppg, 5 apg, 4 spg as a senior … led his team to the 2000 CIF title … as a junior, named All-CIF after averaging 16 ppg, 8 apg and 6 spg ...
