Bears Finish 15th at Nike Northwest Tournament

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The California men's golf team finished an unsatisfactory 15th
place today at the Nike Northwest Invitational in Corvallis,
Ore. The No. 19-ranked BYU squad won the tournament hands down,
shooting a three-under-par total of 861 eleven strokes better
than runner-up Colorado State (872).
The Bears, tied for 17th place after the initial two rounds,
fired a 293 over the final 18 holes to move up two notches into
15th place. At the two previous fall tournaments -- Falcon-Cross
Creek Invitational and Pacific Invitational-- the Bears brought
home back-to-back titles.
Individually, Cal was paced by junior Dan Arroyo who shot a
four-over 220 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. The tournament
was won by Andy Miller of BYU with a 54-hole score of 210 was
four strokes better than Washington's Scott Kral (214) and
Stanford's Dusty Brett (214).
