Cal men's soccer will be hosting its annual soccer camps this summer. Camp dates are July 6-10 and a residential camp will be held July 13-17. For more information call the soccer office at (510) 642-5916.

Cal sophomore Derrick Dyslin (Granada Hills) was named to the All-Far West Region first team. Dyslin started all 18 games for the Golden Bears in the backfield. A defensive mastermind, he was also selected to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honorable mention team.

Construction on the new home of Golden Bear soccer - Edwards Stadium/Goldman Field - will get underway this summer. The $3.3 million project calls for the conversion of the track infield into a regulation 70-yard x 115-yard natural grass soccer field. The project is expected to be completed in time for the 1999 season.

Former Cal soccer standout Troy Cowell (1994) has recently signed a contract to play Major League Soccer. A defensive midfielder, Cowell's contract is through the MLS, but he has not yet been assigned to a specific team.
