No. 25 Bears Fall to No. 22 Dartmouth

STANFORD, Calif. -- The California Golden Bear men's soccer team fell to the No. 22 ranked Dartmouth Big Green in a 2-1 overtime contest in the first round of the Stanford Invitational Friday on New Maloney Field.

The Bears (5-2-1) put the first score on the board 77 minutes into the first half. In a game that was definitely defense-oriented, Cal finally broke through the Big Green backline when senior Adam Hunter nailed a 12-yard shot off a cross from freshman Kendall Simmonds.

Eleven minutes into the overtime, Big Green freshman Nicholas Magnuson broke free from a swarming Bear defense to knock in a shot for the 2-1 defeat. Dartmouth improved to 4-1-1 with the victory.

Cal will face Harvard in the final round of the Stanford Invitational Sunday at 11 a.m. on New Maloney Field in Stanford.
