Golden Bears Defeat Army

BERKELEY, Calif. - The University of California men's gymnastics team beat visiting Army by a score of 232.325-215.200 Friday.

Cal's Trent Wells took the all-around title with a combines score of 58.175 and posted a perfect 10 on the horizontal bar and parallel bars. Army took second, third and fourth in the all-around competition with Jason DelMarty coming in second with a total score of 54.650.

The Bears took the first four spots in both the parallel bars and the horizontal bar, with Wells taking first in both events. On the parallel bars, David Kruse was second followed by Andrew Mason and C.J. Faust was fourth. On the horizontal bar, Jeff Stein came in second, Justin McCue and Alex Chansky tied for fourth.

Wells also posted a win in the floor exercise with a score of 9.7.

The final three events, pommel horse, still rings and vault, Cal took first place. On the pommel horse, Andrew Mason was first (9.875); on the still rings Faust was first (9.7) and on the vault, Olef Kosiak was first with a 9.8.
