A sophomore breaststroker/butterflyer from Visalia, CA...as a freshman (1997) had the team's fourth-best time in the 100 fly (career-best 56.45, NCAA consideration standard)...scored points for the Bears at the Pac-10 meet, placing 11th in the 100 breast (1:05.97) and 17th in both the 100 fly and the 200 breast...also had career-best times in the 200 fly (2:09.11), 200 breast (2:24.70) and 200 IM (2:08.90)...had three dual meet wins in the 100 fly (versus Michigan, Fresno State/Nevada, Pacific), all from lane eight... this summer competed in the 100 fly, and the 100 and 200 breast at the 1997 Canadian National Championship in Edmonton, Alberta...at Golden West High School was an All-American in swimming in 1995 and '96...holds her high school records in the 100 breast (1:04.90), 100 fly (58.20) and 200 IM (2:09.21)...was named Female Swimmer of the Year for her club team in 1995 and was a Junior National finalist and a Senior National qualifier in 1996...also competed one year on the varsity volleyball team...club coach is Matt Vogel of the Visalia Area Swim Team...undeclared major with an interest in biology...parents are Dave and Jan Simpson of Visalia, CA...born 9/4/78 in Ontario, Canada.
