A sophomore freestyler/butterflyer/IMer from Half Moon Bay, CA...as a freshman (1997) earned All-America honors as a member of the Bears 800 free relay team (1:49.20 split) that placed seventh at the NCAA Championship...also earned honorable mention All-America as a member of Cal's 400 free relay team (50.58 split), which placed 10th at the NCAA meet, and was an individual NCAA qualifier in the 50, 100 and 200 free...had career bests in the 50 free (23.52, NCAA consideration standard, seventh-best all-time Cal mark), 100 free (50.82, NCAA consideration standard, sixth-best all-time Cal mark) and 200 free (1:49.04, NCAA qualifier, 10th-best all-time Cal mark)...was a member of the Bears 200 and 400 free relay teams which placed fourth at the Pac-10 Championship...individually placed seventh in the 100 free, eighth in the 200 free and 11th in the 50 free at the Pac-10 meet...was a member of Cal's 800 free relay team that set a school dual meet record (7:32.70) Jan. 12 versus Michigan...had eight different lifetime bests during the season and was named the team's Most Improved Swimmer...this past summer swam the 50, 100 (lifetime best 58.23) and 200-meter free (lifetime best 2:05.96) at the USS Summer Senior Nationals in Nashville, TN, and teamed with sister, Liesl, to capture the national title in the 400-meter free relay...at San Mateo High School was the school record holder in the 200 and 500 free, and 200 IM...was a CIF Northern Section individual finalist four-straight years and team captain and MVP in 1994 and '95...helped lead her team to four-straight league championships, a CIF Northern Section title in 1992 and a CIF Northern Section runner-up finish in 1993...started swimming competitively five years ago and has made major improvements, including a prep best of 27.02 in the summer of 1996 in the 50-meter freestyle...had prep best times of 24.52 in the 50 free, 52.92 in the 100 free, 1:56.00 in the 200 free, 2:07.00 in the 200 IM, 58.10 in the 100 fly and 2:10.00 in the 200 fly...also earned Academic All-America honors for the 1994-95 and 1995-96 school years...club coach is Ron Chalsta of Woodside Aquatics...sister, Liesl, swims at Arizona...undeclared major...parents are John and Irene Kolbisen of Half Moon Bay, CA...born 1/20/79 in Redwood City, CA.
