CalBears.com Gets to Know the Freshmen
High School:
Concluded her senior year of ball as the varsity captain with a distinguished list of awards - the Buhach Colony Women's Sportsmanship Award, the Buhach Colony Most Athletic Female, the Booster's Athletic and Academic Award, the Varsity Softball Most Inspirational Player
As a junior in 2011 after taking her team to the section playoffs and finishing as the Central California Conference League runner-up, was named the Central California Conference Softball Offensive Player of the Year, Buhach Colony Most Assists Shortstop, Buhach Colony Most Valuable Player Shortstop and earned the Good Year Tire Award at the Section playoffs
Started on the varsity squad as a freshman, leading the team to CIF-SJS DI Section playoffs and the conference championship
Also played varsity golf in 2011 - as the No. 3 golfer - along with varsity basketball and cross country in 2010
Ran varsity cross country as a freshman in 2008, finishing first in league
As part of the top nine percent of her graduating class, she received a multitude of academic laudations her senior year - the California State Senate Scholastic Achievement Award, the Congressional Special Recognition Award, CSF Life Membership, the Team Academic Excellence Award
In 2011, her GPA was in the top 15 percent of all California high school seniors and she earned the Central California Conference Team Academic Excellence Award
In both 2010 and 2009, she received the CCC Team Academic Excellence Award
Also participated in Key Club, Acme Club, was a speaker for AVID at a local junior high, volunteered a local elementary school
Club Ball:
Placed 12th at the 2012 Premier Girls Fastpitch Championship
Played for the Lady Magic 18 Gold in 2011 and 2012
Played for the California Grapettes 18 Gold from 2009-11
Took part in Boulder Colorado Independence Day tournament from 2010-12
Participated in the 2011 Sun Classic in Florida
Took 16th with her team at the 2010 ESPN Premier Girls Fastpitch Championship / Placed 16th
In 2010, she played in the Defense Award Elite Softball Camp at Oregon, the OnDeck National Elite Futures Softball Camp Invitational and On Deck Softball Zoom into June Invitational
Participated in the 2009 On Deck NorCal Elite Futures Camp and took first at the ASA Jo Fast Pitch in Incline Village
Personal:
Was raised by my grandparents Mitch and Lucille Mildram, who she notes as her personal heroes
Attending Cal was first suggested to her when she was eight, when her grandfather commented on one of her school pictures in which she was hugging a tree
Plans on majoring in biology Cal en route to becoming a physician's assistant
Has an aunt and two cousins who graduated from Cal and a great uncle who attended during the 60s protests
First visited Cal at age 12 with her AVID class and fell in love with the campus
Played 14U travel ball for Steve Drewrey, whose daughter Marissa was a four-year letterwinner at Cal
Relative Martin Martin played semi-professional baseball in Oklahoma during the 1930s
