To preserve the long-term health of Spieker Aquatics Complex for the benefit of the entire campus community and all who use the pool, regular maintenance needs to occur. This summer, the pool will be closed for approximately 4-5 weeks in order to replaster the entire pool, replace broken and chipped tiles, and install new LED lights under water.
While construction is ongoing, the new Legends Aquatic Center across Bancroft Way will be made available to Rec Sports users for lap swim according to the following schedule. These times essentially mirror what is normally available to the swimming community at Spieker. Cal Athletics' aquatic sports (swimming, diving and water polo) have made accommodations to their practice schedules to allow these hours to be available.
- Monday-Friday – 11:30 am-1:30 pm; 4:30 pm-8:00 pm
- Saturday – 12 noon-8 pm
- Sunday – 10 am-8 pm
- Due to previously scheduled water polo tournament, the follow exceptions will be made to the schedule and the pool will be closed to Rec Sports users:
- Friday, Aug. 4 – no evening hours (11:30 am-1:30 pm only)
- Saturday, Aug. 5 – pool closed
- Sunday, Aug. 6 – pool closed
