Fan Code of Conduct

Cal Athletics is committed to serving our fans by providing a safe, comfortable and enjoyable gameday experience. Our Fan Code of Conduct has been established to ensure that your experience is consistent with our commitment. Failure to follow this code will result in ejection from the facility, revocation of ticket privileges and/or arrest. Although season-ticket holders may provide their tickets to others, the account holder of record is responsible for the actions of those using their tickets.

The following actions are prohibited:

  • Any action that disrupts other guests' enjoyment of the game
  • Possession of any item listed on the "Prohibited Items List"
  • Use of foul, abusive, obscene, or discriminatory (on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identification, age, race, national origin, religion, military status, disability status or any other characteristic) language or gestures
  • Fighting, taunting, or threatening remarks or gestures
  • Intoxication or signs of impairment related to alcohol or drug use. Fans that appear to be inebriated and unmanageable will not be permitted admittance into the stadium and may be subject to arrest.
  • Failure to follow the directions of law enforcement or stadium management
  • Sitting in a seat other than one's ticketed seat location
  • Engaging in action that causes a disruption or interferes with the game
  • Refusal to remove clothing deemed offensive or obscene
  • Smoking and/or tobacco use
Policy

Security & Screening

Cal Athletics aims to provide the safest and most enjoyable gameday environment for all Golden Bear fans in attendance. A clear bag policy is in effect and all guests are subject to search before being admitted into the venue. Items left outside the stadium by guests will be disposed of by stadium staff. The following information is subject to change.

Permitted Items

  • Bags that comply with the bag policy
  • Blankets
  • Cameras with lenses 6 inches or shorter
  • Diaper bags accompanying a child
  • Food and fruit (must be cut into pieces)
  • Guide, signal and service dogs with guests that need their assistance
  • Soft plastic bottles (bottled water, soft drinks, no alcohol)
  • Seat cushions
  • Strollers (see bag policy)

Prohibited Items

  • Backpacks, including clear backpacks
  • Clear bags larger than 12"x12"x6"
  • Non-clear bags larger than 4.5"x6.5"
  • Seat cushions larger than 18"
  • Alcohol of any kind
  • Hard plastic bottles (Nalgene, bike water bottles, etc.)
  • Animals
  • Banners / signs
  • Balls or other projectiles
  • Weapons
  • Hard fruit or vegetables (unless cut into small pieces)
  • Glass or metal bottles
  • Cans
  • Open containers
  • Sticks / poles
  • Fireworks
  • Hard coolers
  • Umbrellas
  • Derogatory, profane, scantily clad, or offensive clothing
  • Artificial noise making devices
  • Video cameras
  • Monopods / tripods
  • Professional cameras (see policy below)
  • Laser pointers
  • Tobacco products (including e-cigarettes)
  • Skateboards / rollerblades / scooters / roller shoes
  • Balloons
  • Illegal drugs
  • Segways (ADA only), bicycles, tri-bikes

Policy

ACC Field Rushing Policy

The Atlantic Coast Conference and Cal Athletics would like remind all fans that for their safety and the safety of the teams, officials, and game personnel, that fans are not permitted on the field at any time. Any person found violating this policy is subject to citation and/or arrest.

Cal Athletics and the ACC jointly enforce this policy at all events — the host institution (or tournament/meet director at off-campus championships) oversees crowd control, and only participants, coaches, officials, and authorized personnel are allowed in the competition area before, during, and after competition.

Policy

Gameday Open Flame & Cooking Permit Policy

Due to ongoing wildfire risk in the Berkeley Hills — designated a Very High Fire Severity Zone by Cal Fire — a University of California, Berkeley Fire Prevention Division Permit is required for all open flame/cooking appliances and fires, including any electric or fuel-fired appliance or equipment producing open flames.

Permits for open flame/cooking appliances will NOT be issued inside of the "BBQ Exclusion Zone" shown on the linked map except those areas identified by a star. There are 3 maps, one showing the entire "BBQ Exclusion Zone," one close up of Memorial Stadium area, and one specifically for the Clark Kerr Campus. The permit form is available here.

Permits will be issued for 4 hours prior to the football game through the duration of the football game ONLY. Any violation of the permit requirements will result in revocation of the permit and the immediate cessation of the heat producing appliance.

Tailgate parties are allowed in the "BBQ Exclusion Zone" provide there are NO heat producing appliances or fuel fired equipment and no open flames.

Electric food warmers (NOT electric cooking or open flame appliances) will be allowed without permit ONLY in the areas designated by the Star on the map.

Important Note

For this particular permit, email permit applications to Fireprevention@berkeley.edu. If you have a UC Berkeley email account, you can submit for a permit on the EH&S website at ehs.berkeley.edu and click on Event Permit.
