Kelsey Santisteban joined the cross country staff for the 2018 season as a volunteer assistant coach.
Santisteban returns to Cal after a standout undergraduate career. She ranks in the school's all-time top five in four different races. During the indoor season, she ranks fifth in school history in the 3000m mark with a personal best of 9:17.52. She is also third in the 5000m with a best mark of 16:01.70. On the school's outdoor list, Santisteban ranks third in the 5000m (15:50.18) and fourth in the 10,000m (33:31.85).
In 2014, Santisteban qualified for the NCAA Championship in both the 5000m and 10,000m races as she took 11th at the NCAA West Prelim in both events. That was just two weeks after she scored 11 points for the team at the Pac-12 Championship with a second place finish in the 10,000m and a sixth-place mark in the 5000m.
The 2013 cross country season was one of the best in Cal history as Santisteban took third at the Pac-12 Championship and 10th at the NCAA Championship. She recorded a personal best 6K time of 19:28.4 in the 6K at the NCAA West Region to finish in fifth. She also recorded three individual wins during the campaign including the Pre-National Invitational.
Santisteban graduated from UC Berkeley in 2016 with a degree in integrative biology. She is a Bay Area native, hailing from Castro Valley, Calif.
