Edmonds is in his second season as a redshirt freshman at Cal in 2017 after redshirting and not playing as a true freshman in 2016. He is listed in the No. 4 spot at one safety position on the 2017 preseason depth chart. Edmonds was a four-star recruit in the 2016 recruiting class according to ESPN, Rivals and Tom Lemming who ranked as high as the nation’s No. 17 cornerback and No. 214 player overall according to Rivals. ESPN also had him as the No. 27 cornerback in the nation while Scout ranks him as the top cornerback from the state of Tennessee. He transferred to McCallie High School for his final prep campaign but was limited due to injury.
