Marcus Green is in his second season as the Assistant Director of Men’s Basketball Operations, joining the program on June 8, 2015.

He came to California after serving on the coaching staff for the men’s basketball program at Lake Forest College in Illinois.

Prior to his time at Lake Forest College, Green spent two seasons at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Ind. where he served as an assistant coach for the RedHawks women’s basketball program for the 2013-14 season and the associate head coach for the men’s basketball program during the 2012-13 season. The RedHawks women’s basketball program posted the most victories in the regular-season in school history (23), en route to an A.I.I. regular-season title.  

Green began his coaching career on the staff at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill., where he helped guide the Patriots to 18 wins during the 2011-12 season.

He was a four-year lettermen and two-year captain at Purdue University from 2005-09 for head coach Matt Painter. Green also played under Martin, who was an assistant coach with the Boilermakers for Green’s first two seasons, before being elevated to Purdue’s associate head coach his junior season and hired as the head coach at Missouri State prior to Green’s senior year. Green played in 134 games with 28 starts during his career in West Lafayette, Ind. The Boilermakers recorded three 20-win seasons and earned three NCAA Tournament berths in Green’s four seasons. Purdue posted 27 wins and, captured the Big Ten Tournament title, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 during Green’s senior season in 2008-09.

Green earned his bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue in 2009.

He went on to play professionally in Buenos Aires, Argentina as a member of the Boca Juniors before returning to the United States to begin his coaching career.

A native of Franklin Park, Ill., Green was a standout at East Leyden High School where he was regarded as one of the top scholastic players in the state of Illinois as a senior in 2005.

Green is also the founder and head coach of Power Up Athletics, LLC, an elite program to help develop basketball players through personalized training and provide competition with traveling teams.

Green is the proud father of daughter Amira Green.
