Thayer White is in his first season as an undergraduate student assistant coach for the Golden Bears in 2016-17. White, who is scheduled to earn his bachelor's degree from Cal in May of 2017, spent one season in the Cal men's golf program as a men's golf student-athlete in 2012-13 but did not see any action.

White, who was born in San Francisco, graduated from San Marcos High School in 2012. He was a three-time All-Santa Barbara County selection who reached the section finals as a 2010 sophomore and the Southern California finals in his 2012 senior season. He also played three seasons of high school basketball and was an All-Southern Section selection and Santa Barbara Athletic Roundtable Player of the Year as a 2011-12 senior. He earned a 4.4 prep GPA.

White's junior career was highlighted by an appearance in the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur after winning a qualifier for the event.

White is the son of Stewart and Michele White.
