Murphy Bromberg, a four-time All-American at the University of Texas who captured the 2019 NCAA platform title as a senior, served as Cal’s interim diving coach for the 2021-22 season.
Bromberg oversaw the Golden Bear divers' training throughout the 2021-22 season, though the group did not compete. The Cal men's swimming & diving program won the 2022 NCAA & Pac-12 team championships while the women's team placed second at Pac-12s and eighth at NCAAs during Bromberg's lone season on staff.
Twice named the Big 12 Diver of the Year, Bromberg was a five-time Big 12 champion. She won a bronze medal in women’s synchronized platform at the 2019 World Championships and competed in mixed synchro platform at the 2015 world meet and in women’s synchro in 2013.
Bromberg scored at the NCAA Championships during each of her four years in college, including 15th on 3-meter as a freshman in 2014, and sixth on platform and 13th on 3-meter as a sophomore in 2015. After two redshirt seasons, she returned to place second on platform and sixth on 3-meter in 2018 before winning the platform title a year later.
Bromberg was a member of the U.S. World Cup team three times and was a nine-time senior national champion. She also competed at the 2015 Pan American Games.
Originally from Bexley, Ohio, Bromberg earned her degree from Texas in corporate communications and has a master’s degree in sport management.
