Cal Success:

• Enjoyed a breakout junior season in 2017-18 and was one of Cal's most valuable contributors at the NCAA Championships, earning All-America honors in the 200 fly, 200 IM (HM) and 400 IM (HM).
• Scored 27 individual points at the 2018 NCAA Championships with a team-best fourth-place finish in the 200 fly, 10th-place finish in the 400 IM and 12th-place finish in the 200 IM.
• Time of 1:39.95 in the 200 fly was Cal's top mark in the event in 2018 and ranked fourth in school history at the time. Also moved into Cal's all-time top 10 with his times in the 400 IM (third, 3:37.75) and 200 IM (sixth, 1:42.51).
• Also a member of Cal's 800 free relay team at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships that swam a season-best 6:13.30 to win a conference title.
• Strong contributor in the classroom earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention for the 2017-18 school year.
• Emerged as a valuable point-scorer for the Bears at the 2017 NCAA Championships, winning the "B" final in the 200 fly with a career-best time of 1:41.57.
• Also competed in the 200 IM at the 2017 NCAA Championships and narrowly missed the "B" final.
• Was one of Cal's most versatile swimmers throughout his sophomore season and ranked third on the team in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM. Also ranked fourth in the 100 and 200 back, fifth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 200 free. 
• Qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championships as a freshman, using a season-best time of 1:43.49 in the 200 butterfly at the Pac-12 Championships to punch his ticket to Atlanta.
• Competed in a variety of events in his first year as a Bear, also achieving a NCAA B standard in the 100 back and 100 fly. 
• Finished the year with Cal's third-best time in the 200 fly, fourth-best time in the 100 back, fifth-best time in the 200 IM and seventh-best in the 200 back.

High School/Club/National Success: 

• Attended Hatboro-Horsham High School in Pennsylvania and his 100 backstroke time won the Pennsylvania state title while lowering current Cal star Ryan Murphy's 15-16 national age group record in that event.
• Competed for Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and head coach Geoff Scheuer.
• Member of the U.S. Junior National team in the 100 and 200 butterfly.
• Won the 2015 Pennsylvania AAA state championship in both the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

Personal:

• Parents are Richard and Sunny Thomas. Has two siblings, Lexie and Andrew.
• Intended Public Health major.
